I have been coming to the Union Street Grill and Grotto for a long while now, and it has definitely become one of my favourite places to eat in the Valley. I have never had any problems with the food there. The meals are always served in a timely fashion, and are always hot, fresh, and delicious. There is something on the menu for everyone, including vegetarian dishes, incredible burgers that would make any burger fanatic drool, decadent desserts for those with a sweet tooth, and now they offer a complete gluten-free menu with tons of options for celiacs. I'm not even celiac and I've enjoyed items off this menu. Everything is made in house, from soups to sauces to salad dressings, which is really refreshing considering that a lot of restaurants that you go to nowadays are serving pre-packaged foods and sauces. It is always a great atmosphere to be in. The decor is really warm and cozy, the servers are extremely friendly, and they always have great music. It is also family owned and operated so you know they put their heart and soul into their restaurant. It's always a pleasure to go there. Two thumbs way up!!!
Overpriced, slow, food is often underheated. Avoid.
Our food is made to order using fresh ingredients. We serve our food fresh out of the pan or off the grill and regularly do quality checks. We take great pride in our products and will gladly rectify anything not up to standards.
where on earth do you order food and then 10% is added on to pay for the music that they have, what if you are deaf or don't like the music they make you pay anyway the food was terrible tried it twice and each time would probably never go back, asked for a blt and they could not make it even though they have everything they don't offer it on the menu so they could not do it so i left.
On Friday nights, we have live music in The Grotto, for which we added a 10% charge for the musicians. We believe in supporting local artists. As of July 2009, we stopped offering live music.
We dined at the Union Street Grill last Friday and it was the worst meal we had our whole vacation. It was a sea food pasta. The pasta was under cooked and the all seafood shells were empty. We found 2 prawns in the soupy dish.
The seafood linguine is made from a natural prawn bisque sauce. All our food is portioned by weight and unfortunately some of the seafood might fall out of the shell. We have corrected this problem.
Delicious! Stopped in with friends before heading out on a long canoe trip, and it was all I could have hoped for in a final meal. I split a veggie burger and Mediterranean omelet. The veggie burger is the best I've had in a long time, perhaps ever, and it came with awesome fries (I'm a sucker for good, crispy, thick-cut fries). Apparently the veggie burgers, made in-house, can be bought in bulk to-go - I'd go for it if only I lived close enough. The spicy fries were also extraordinarily good. The omelet was perfect - egg cooked on both sides before the addition of the perfect amount/combination of feta, sun-dried tomatoes, etc. Quite wonderful - in fact, I had to Google search for a website just so I could write a review. It is that good. Service was very busy, but friendly nonetheless.
